Greenwood College School is seeking a Social Worker who will work with students in Grades 7-12 and their families from now through to June 2027. This is an active recruitment for a fixed-term, part-time position (60%) beginning immediately.

Compensation& Terms
This is a fixed-term position beginning immediately and ending in late June 2027. The expected compensation for this position is $45,000 - $65,000 annually, prorated for the length of the contract. This is a 60% role, the exact terms of which will be formulated between the successful candidate and the school. Possible terms are:
- 3 days a week for full days; or,
- 5 days a week from 9:30am-2:00pm.

Position SummaryKey Responsibilities:
- Provide individual, student and/or parent counselling as required.
- Provide a safe, trusted and confidential space for student and family counselling.
- Evaluate and determine need for external support outside the care provided at school and, where appropriate, provide external referrals to services, agencies or specialists.
- Establish a visible and approachable presence in the school.
- Collaborate with the Vice-Principal, Student Support and Well-Being, other School Social Worker, Nurse, Coordinator, Student Well-being, staff, administrators and other internal partners to deliver and support programs and initiatives that lead to overall well-being of students, for example:
- Relevant clubs and committees that focus on student well-being;
- Workshops and discussion groups, including but not limited to LGBTQ+, mental health, and transition to postsecondary.
- Adhere to the ethical standards of the counselling profession and practice in accordance with federal, provincial and local laws, statutes, and/or policies that relate to students and families such as, child protection / child abuse, special education, attendance, education rights and privacy.
- Maintain case records and comply with mandated documentation and reporting requirements.
- Identify students’ diverse needs that require specific counselling expertise.
- Stay up to date on emerging trends in the field by participating in professional development, and maintaining contact with other professional bodies and social service agencies.
- Maintain some flexibility and be available to respond to emergencies and critical incidents.
- Attend and contribute to Student Support Team meetings.
- Attend Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings when needed.
- Help to facilitate restorative strategies (when conflict arises).
- Support emergency student visits to the hospital for mental health.
- Attend student “return to school” meetings at the hospital and provide a report to school.
- Create and support safety plans for at-risk students.
- Masters of Social Work (MSW) and Registered Social Worker (RSW)
