Switchgear Design Engineer - Manufacturing

Job SummaryThe Switchgear Design Engineer is responsible for providing engineering expertise in support of switch gear manufacturing, quality, and customer-facing activities. This role drives performance across safety, quality, delivery, and productivity metrics while delivering technical leadership with minimal supervision. The engineer interprets customer drawings and specifications, designs electrical circuits to meet application requirements, and supports production, sales, and product marketing teams through effective collaboration and problem-solving.
Job Responsibilities- Drive results related to safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
- Promote teamwork and provide training, instruction, and technical guidance to production personnel.
- Interpret customer drawings and specifications for manufacturing and related products.
- Design electrical circuits and perform engineering calculations to meet application and compliance requirements.
- Create and review engineering documentation for drafting, procurement, and manufacturing.
- Serve as a technical liaison for customers, addressing product application, performance and specification compliance.
- Participate in customer project reviews, drawing approval meetings, inspections, and witness tests.
- Review and analyze product configurations and components, providing input to drafting, purchasing, and manufacturing teams.
- Support product marketing, manufacturing, and sales functions in alignment with product line objectives.
- Manage projects and orders to meet on‑time performance goals, reduce cycle times, and manage changes to order requirements.
- Assist with warranty‑related activities and resolution of product issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of product engineering technologies, competitor capabilities, and market conditions.
- Effectively resolve conflicts to maintain productivity and collaboration.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to product design, quality, safety, and productivity.
- Support team members and perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of design or manufacturing experience in switch gear assembly.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and related engineering and production systems.
- Experience interpreting technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide proactive solutions in a production environment.
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent required.
- Design or manufacturing experience in switch gear assembly required.
- Experience supporting engineering functions across manufacturing, sales, or product marketing preferred.
- Experience with PLC and relay programming or automatic transfer systems is a plus.
