Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer. The position will be based at our manufacturing facility in Greenwood, SC.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $56000 - $83000 a year.

What you’ll doAssist with the design and execution of complex medium-voltage switch gear solutions, supporting New Product Development (NPD) projects. Work with lead engineers to support product design, project execution, customer support, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions.
Essential Responsibilities- Support the mechanical design and development of medium-voltage switch gear products and assemblies.
- Develop 3D models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and product documentation using CAD and PLM systems.
- Collaborate with Front End Engineering and Customer Order Engineering teams to generate BOMs and material demands for standard product content on customer orders at product launch.
- Support complex NPD engineering projects from concept through release.
- Participate in design reviews, technical problem-solving, testing, and validation activities.
- Build engineering prototypes to facilitate design reviews and product testing.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, sourcing, quality, manufacturing teams, and EESS to ensure successful project execution and product launch.
- Drive product improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and engineering process enhancements.
- Support technology development, product architecture, and innovation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, quality systems, and safety requirements.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution or high school diploma with minimum 3 years of experience with medium voltage switch gear experience

- Experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar 3D CAD software.
- Experience creating engineering drawings, BOMs, and change documentation.
- Experience designing medium-voltage switch gear, GIS/AIS products, or related power distribution equipment.
- Knowledge of IEEE switch gear standards and product development processes.
- Experience with PLM systems, engineering analysis, and product validation.
- Demonstrated leadership of complex technical projects and cross-functional teams.
- Strong technical knowledge and project management skills.
- Effective communication and customer engagement skills.
- Ability to balance performance, quality, manufacturability, cost, and schedule objectives.
- Self-directed, collaborative, and results oriented.
- Knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to perform hands‑on work building prototypes for evaluation and testing.
- Up to 25% travel.
