Assistant Facilities EngineerJob Summary:
The Assistant Facilities Engineer supports the Facilities Engineering team in managing and maintaining ES Foundry’s Cell Manufacturing Facility in Greenwood, SC. This role assists with facility operations, preventive maintenance activities, project coordination, and compliance tasks. Because facilities activities often occur during non‑standard times, the role may require occasional weekend, holiday, or plant‑shutdown availability.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in daily facilities and maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of building systems.
- Support the use and monitoring of KPIs for facilities and maintenance performance.
- Partner with the third‑party maintenance provider to help maximize equipment uptime and asset reliability.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure, escalating issues as needed.
- Assist in scoping, documenting, quoting, and coordinating small facility improvement projects.
- Support project timelines by tracking tasks, communicating status updates, and validating completion.
- Participate in vendor sourcing, obtaining pricing, and comparing alternatives.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Help ensure compliance with local and state building, fire, and safety codes.
- Assist in maintaining updated documentation, records, and work order systems.
- Support the use of problem‑solving tools (RCCA, A3, data-driven diagnostics).
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and third‑party service providers.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding equipment conditions and project status.
- Support adherence to purchasing processes and budget guidelines.
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems used in manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with facility operations, maintenance practices, or industrial equipment.
- Ability to learn and use digital management tools and maintenance software.
- Strong problem‑solving mindset using data, observation, and structured reasoning.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in engineering technology, Facilities Management, Industrial Maintenance, or similar field; or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or facilities support.
- Experience with mechanical or electrical building systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 and maintenance/work‑order systems.
- Experience supporting third‑party vendors or contractors.

Working conditions:
- Must be able to stand and walk up to 80% of the shift.
- Wear the required PPE all times while in the manufacturing area. Other personal protective equipment is required as departmental policies or job tasks dictate.
- Must be able to lift and position objects weighing up to 50 lbs., up to 10% of the work time.
