Description
The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for an Operations Supervisor in our Sports and Events Department.
The purpose of this position is for leading front-line event execution and venue readiness while driving internal program development for the complex. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director, this role oversees the hiring, scheduling, and day-to-day management of Event Coordinators and Part-Time Event Attendants to maintain a first-class, detailed, and organized environment. As a manager on duty for major tournaments/events, this position oversees venue prep, client coordination, and active shift operations to deliver a seamless event experience.
Responsibilities- Exercise direct supervision over Event Coordinators and Part-Time Event Attendants, ensuring operational excellence across all shifts and venue activities.
- Lead the hiring, onboarding, training, and performance review processes for Event Coordinators and Part-Time Event Attendants.
- Plan, schedule, and approve shifts for staff, tracking labor hours and monitoring team productivity to align with budget and operational needs.
- Plan, develop, and execute in-house tournaments and events, adding direct value to members through programming.
- Conduct pre-event set-up calls with promoters, renters, and event hosts to confirm physical layouts, scheduling requirements, and specialized facility needs.
- Serve as a manager on duty for tournaments and major events, ensuring seamless execution, client satisfaction, and immediate issue resolution.
- Provide comprehensive custodial oversight to maintain the facility in a constant state of cleanliness, presentation, and operational readiness.
- Oversee janitorial product inventory, tracking usage and managing supply orders to ensure continuous facility support.
- Ensure all event spaces, athletic surfaces, and operational equipment are properly prepped, fully accessible, and organized prior to user arrival.
- Coordinate third-party equipment rentals and work with external vendors to full specialized event requirements.
- Develop, implement, and refine comprehensive facility opening and closing procedures to secure the venue and maintain operational consistency.
- Interpret and apply all relevant federal, state, and local regulations to ensure a safe and compliant environment for all.
- Performs general administrative/office duties as required, including typing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, sending and receiving faxes, answering the telephone, etc.
- Continually stays up to date on all policy, procedure, and/or process changes.
- Completes all work accurately, safely, and efficiently.
- Keeps work area clean and safe.
- Maintains any assigned equipment in safe and good operating condition.
- Reports to Supervisor any suggested improvements or areas of concern.
- Ensures professionalism and exceptional customer service during all interactions while performing job representing the City of Greer.
- Exhibits strong ethical standards; ability to create trust and integrity with co-workers, customers, and community.
- Adheres to Employee Handbook and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Maintains regular and sustained attendance.
- Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, M-F; with frequent evenings and weekends
Salary: Minimum $29.53 hourly; dependent on experience
