Reeves Construction Company is currently seeking an Asphalt Steel Wheel Roller Operator in Duncan, SC. The successful candidate will demonstrate an uncompromising focus on safety excellence and will be able to effectively run a roller for the compaction of asphalt and/or dirt and other materials for road and commercial construction. Asphalt Roller Operators are also expected to assist in the general operation of each job site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Have a basic knowledge of the mechanics and hydraulics of the machine.
- Conduct an inspection checklist on equipment such as tracks, lights, brakes, fuel, oil and water.
- Keep equipment clean, lubricated, and in good working order, including good housekeeping.
- Understand control levers for movement of the machine.
- Prioritize the safety and welfare of workers around the machine.
- Operate the vehicle safely in job site situations and follow company policies and procedures.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
- Minimum of 1–3 months of work‑related experience and/or training.
- Ability to work day or night shifts.
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Provide own transportation to and from work.
- Valid driver’s license (preferred).
- Provide proper documentation demonstrating legal right to work in the United States.
The work requires regular use of hands, fingers and arms to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or walk; talk or hear; and taste or smell. Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or corrected by an audio device.
The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. Employees are occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise levels are usually very loud.
