Summary

Calvary Christian Preschool is a faith-based center that is a part of Calvary Christian School. We are a ministry of Calvary Baptist Church. We place a high priority on promoting literacy, teaching social-emotional skills, building character, and demonstrating Christ’s love through word and action. Because families are the child’s first and most important educator, we strive to partner with families as we invest in the lives of children.

Together, we are “Building Foundations for Brighter Futures”. We are seeking a new Director who can lead our Preschool Program. This is a year‑round position. Our ideal candidate will be a good communicator who is growth‑oriented, with a view for continual improvement in quality childcare, safety, facility upkeep, and personal development. We are looking for someone who is professional, hardworking, creative, energetic, compassionate, goal‑oriented, and passionate about making a lasting impact on today’s children.

Duties
  • Support and assist the teachers, children, and families
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures aligning with the overall mission of Calvary Baptist Church, Calvary Christian School, and Calvary Christian Preschool
  • Actively promote a God‑honoring atmosphere and the spiritual growth of the children and teachers
  • Ensure safety and protection of the children and deal with behavioral issues as needed
  • Communicate with families and staff as needed
  • Manage hiring, supervision, and ongoing professional development of staff
  • Ensure compliance with DSS regulations for the preschool
  • Oversee budget and finance for preschool
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and meet one of the following qualifications:
  • A college or university degree in early childhood education, child development, child psychology or a related field that includes at least eighteen credit hours in child development and/or early childhood education;
  • A bachelor's degree from a college or university in any subject area and six months experience working with children in a licensed, approved or registered child care facility;
  • An associate's degree from a college or university in early childhood education, child development and/or child psychology or a related field, that includes at least eighteen credit hours in child development and/or early childhood education with six months work experience in a licensed, approved or registered child care facility;
  • A diploma in child development/early childhood education from an institution of higher learning or a child development associate (CDA) credential, and one year work experience in a licensed, approved or registered child care facility; or
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate with at least one year of work experience in a licensed, approved or registered child care facility. That year shall have included supervision of child care staff. A director/co‑director who is prevented from obtaining a high school diploma or GED because of a disability, and who otherwise is qualified to perform the essential functions of the position, must have at least a high school Certificate of Completion with at least one year of work experience in a licensed, approved or registered child care facility.

Required Documents
  • Your diploma (most recent – high school or college) or GED.
  • Your resume that includes written verification of experience working in an approved, licensed, or registered child care facility.

Once a decision has been reached after an initial interview, you will also be asked for three letters of reference from persons not related to you, each including the home and work numbers of the referrer. Copies of these will be kept on file and submitted to the South Carolina Department of Social Services. Before your official start date, fingerprinting must be scheduled, completed, and results received.
