Salary Range: $15.20 – $20.09 hourly

Responsibilities
  • Establish, maintain, and manage classroom activities to meet the Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning other staff members, children, and families within the Enrichment Services Program.
  • Understand and demonstrate knowledge of ages and stages of development, including physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development for this age group.
  • Interact affectionately and respectfully, using a friendly, calm, soft, courteous manner within close proximity of the child.
  • Respect and observe children’s interests, intervening when needed to maintain safety and enhancing play with language, toys, and activities.
  • Communicate directly with each child at their level, and engage constructively during activities and routines to positively extend children’s thinking and actions.
  • Be responsive to children’s needs, questions, and requests.
  • Encourage and model social behavior and expectations that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Acknowledge feelings with sensitivity and demonstrate appropriate expression of emotions.
  • Use positive discipline techniques in line with NAEYC, Bright from the Start, Caring for Our Children Basics, and the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Be attentive, flexible, and supportive of children and families during transitions to and from classrooms.
  • Record observations in Teaching Strategies GOLD.
  • Recruit volunteers and solicit in‑kind contributions.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops as required.
  • Serve as an advocate for the Head Start Program, families, and children.
  • Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that reflects observations and assessments of individual children and goals developed with parents/guardians.
  • Adhere to all safety and health rules of the location.
  • Supervise children at all times, maintaining awareness of the whole group while working with small groups or individuals.
  • Know the number of children in the group and maintain required ratios.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records throughout the day.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork (accidents, medication, allergies).
  • Encourage children to use appropriate health, safety, and nutrition practices.
  • Keep the environment and equipment safe, clean, and attractive; promote respect for classroom materials; notify designated individuals when supplies are needed.
  • Assist in arranging space into well‑defined activity areas and organize materials on low, open shelves for independent use.
  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans, schedules, and learning centers.
  • Feed infants according to their home schedule and share feeding information with parents daily; begin family‑style dining with toddlers when ready and implement according to program policy and Head Start standards.
  • Complete daily health and anecdotal observations of children.
  • Conduct home visits and parent‑teacher conferences at least twice a year.
  • Complete assessments of children in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education requirements vary by EHS Teacher classification:
    • EHS Teacher: TCC and/or CDA
    • EHS Teacher I:
      Associate’s Degree in ECE or TCC/CDA with Associate’s Degree
    • EHS Teacher II:
      Bachelor’s Degree in ECE or TCC/CDA with Bachelor’s Degree
    • EHS Teacher III:
      Master’s Degree in ECE or TCC/CDA with Master’s Degree or higher
  • Experience Level2:
    One to three years
Compensation
  • CDA/TC — $15.20
  • AA/emphasis on infant & toddler development — $16.53
  • BA/emphasis on infant & toddler development — $19.36
  • MA/emphasis on infant & toddler development — $20.09
