POSITION SUMMARY

The Academic Progress Coordinator supports student achievement and retention within online academic programs by proactively identifying students who may be experiencing academic challenges. This role engages directly with students to provide guidance, encouragement, and connection to appropriate academic resources. In addition, the coordinator assists with select administrative processes that support faculty and program operations, including coordination of adjunct faculty compensation contracts.

This position provides administrative support to the Dean of NGU Online, the Dean of the College of Health Sciences, and the Graduate Dean. The role also supports undergraduate and graduate academic operations, including assistance with registration processes, advising coordination, and student appeals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Student Academic Progress Monitoring
  • Monitor student performance data, course engagement, and academic alerts to identify at‑risk students
  • Conduct proactive outreach via email, phone, or virtual meetings
  • Connect students with appropriate academic resources
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach and interventions
  • Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and program leadership
Student Support and Resource Coordination
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for students needing academic support
  • Provide guidance on academic success strategies and available resources
  • Encourage student engagement and persistence through ongoing communication
Administrative and Operational Support
  • Coordinate faculty compensation agreements
  • Assist with onboarding processes for new faculty
  • Maintain course syllabi records each term
  • Support registration, advising coordination, and student appeals processes
  • Provide administrative support to leadership as needed
Office & Budget Support
  • Assist with office operations, including scheduling and communications
  • Support budget‑related processes including purchase orders and expense reports
  • Utilize university systems for financial and administrative tracking
Collaboration and Communication
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, advisors, and administrative staff
  • Communicate student progress trends to leadership
  • Participate in meetings and planning efforts
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Visual Abilities:
    Read online and physical documents, create presentations, and use a computer system
  • Hearing:
    Hear well enough to communicate with co‑workers and students
  • Dexterity:
    Grasp, feel, write, type, and use telephone, copier, and computer systems
  • Mobility:
    Open files and operate office machines; move between departments and attend meetings across campus
  • Talking:
    Explain historical and theological topics in a way that is appropriate to a variety of audiences
  • Lifting, Pulling, Pushing:
    Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Cognitive/Emotional:
    Ability to critically think and concentrate

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS This is an entry‑level professional exempt position that reports to the Dean of NGU Online and the Dean of the College of Health Sciences and does not include supervisory responsibilities.

WORK SCHEDULE Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma required;
    Bachelor’s, Master’s, or terminal degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience working with student engagement
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Acrobat, and Zoom
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Supports NGU’s mission statement and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle, and character in keeping with biblical model
  • Maintains active membership in a local church that affirms the University’s ethical standards
  • Affirms an understanding of, and willingness not to advocate contrary to, the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
