Marketing and Events Specialist

Position within the Education Abroad Office that supports marketing, communications, and recruitment of students to undergraduate and graduate abroad opportunities.

Location & Hours

Columbia, S.C.
Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (flexible schedule required)

Compensation

State Pay Range: G09
USC Market Range: $52,526 – $65,658 – $78,789
Anticipated Hiring Range: $52,526 – $58,000

Responsibilities
  • Outreach and Event Management – create and manage a comprehensive student recruitment plan; collect and analyze recruitment data; identify new recruitment avenues; develop targeted outreach for special programs such as exchange and instructor‑led courses; manage the Education Abroad Fair and coordinate participation in university events.
  • Social Media and Digital Marketing – oversee the office’s presence on relevant social media platforms; develop a 12‑month content calendar; monitor engagement metrics and adjust strategies; manage the EAO website; support graphic design efforts and annual reporting.
  • Peer Ambassador Management and Alumni Engagement – hire, train, and support peer ambassadors; oversee ambassador activities; plan and support alumni returnee initiatives.
  • Student Support – design and deliver workshops, presentations, and resources covering all phases of the abroad experience (outreach, application, pre‑departure, re‑entry, etc.).
  • Partner Relations Management – coordinate schedules for campus visits by partners; represent EAO at university functions; develop and maintain key relationships with strategic campus partners.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience living, working, or studying abroad.
  • Experience designing and facilitating trainings, workshops, and orientation sessions.
  • Advanced degree (preferred).
  • Strong independent judgment, planning, and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and personal information with discretion.
  • Strong computer and presentation skills.
