Position PurposeResponsible for administering designated environmental, health, and safety programs and related policies and procedures affecting the company’s EHS issues. Acts in a liaison capacity with management regarding interpretation of all policies and procedures pertaining to technical support and guidance on industrial hygiene, reactive and explosive, OSHA, substance abuse testing, accident prevention, etc. On an as-needed basis to assist in the training of emergency response techniques, safety management, risk assessment, DOT, to maintain appropriate safety standards throughout the site.
PrimaryDuties / Responsibilities
- Conduct Industrial Hygiene monitoring as specified in the company’s Industrial Hygiene Plan.
- Maintain monitoring equipment.
- Perform annual review and update of selected Site Plans and Standard Divisional Practices (SDPs).
- Recommend changes/corrections to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Participate on an improvement team pertaining to all environmental, health, and safety programs; make recommendations to facilitate facility needs.
- Conduct RCRA inspections as needed.
- Perform other duties as specified by the EH&S Manager.
- Conduct training in environmental (Benzene, NESHAP, Subpart BB and Subpart CC monitoring), OSHA, DOT, site remediation, reactive chemical operations, emergency response, etc. as needed or requested by the facility.
- Complete regulatory reports (annual non-hazardous/hazardous waste reports, Benzene NESHAP reports, TRI reports, Subpart BB/CC reports, and other reports as specified by the EH&S Manager).
- Maintain Corrective Action Reporting Systems (CMS, Tracer, Compliance Suite, HM DOT, etc.).
- Approximately 10% travel required.
- Minimum of BS in Science, Environmental or Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline preferred.
- 2 to 4 years in the hazardous waste industry or related work experience preferred.
- 2+ years in a problem-solving capacity preferred.
- Extensive knowledge in environmental, health and safety methodologies required.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Time management: able to organize and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong customer orientation.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification.
