Job Description:
Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Senior Supplier Quality Engineer for our client based out of Greer, SC.
This will also have a first‑shift Monday-Friday schedule.
This role requires up to 50% travel, including domestic and occasional international travel.
Responsibilities:
* Lead supplier quality and development initiatives to ensure consistent performance, reliability, and compliance across the supply base.
* Develop and execute supplier improvement strategies aligned to production targets, quality standards, and cost objectives.
* Identify supplier capability gaps and implement structured development plans using industry‑standard methodologies (e.g., APQP, PPAP, 8D).
* Establish supplier segmentation and performance strategies, including long‑term improvement roadmaps for key partners.
* Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to ensure supplier readiness for new product introductions and production ramp‑ups.
* Define and monitor supplier performance metrics such as defect rates, nonconformance trends, audit results, and corrective action responsiveness.
* Conduct supplier audits (process, system, and product), ensuring findings are addressed and closed effectively.
* Lead containment, escalation, and resolution efforts for supplier‑related quality issues impacting production.
* Manage the full PPAP process, including review and approval of control plans, FMEAs, measurement systems, and inspection documentation.
* Drive root‑cause analysis and corrective action activities, verifying effectiveness and long‑term sustainability.
* Apply statistical analysis tools to assess process capability and support data‑driven decision‑making.
* Ensure suppliers meet quality management system requirements and internal standards.
* Maintain accurate supplier quality documentation and reporting within quality systems.
* Evaluate and improve supplier manufacturing processes across a range of fabrication and assembly methods.
Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
* 5+ years of experience in supplier quality engineering or a related manufacturing/quality role.
* Strong expertise in quality methodologies, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA (Gage R&R), and 8D.
* Experience conducting supplier audits and managing corrective action systems.
* Working knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or equivalent.
* Strong understanding of GD&T principles and tolerance interpretation.
* Experience evaluating various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, forming, molding, casting, or assembly).
* Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, or similar platforms.
* Experience working in cross‑functional teams within production or manufacturing environments.
* Willingness to travel up to 50% to support supplier evaluations and quality initiatives.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence both internal teams and external partners.
* Professional certifications such as ASQ CQE or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
* Experience with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
* Background supporting complex, high‑precision or multi‑supplier manufacturing environments.
