Job Description
This position is responsible for preparing drawings and sketches using Revit and AutoCAD working closely with engineers to coordinate designs. The incumbent has deep knowledge of procedures and technical concepts within own area and understands regulations and standards for own area. He/she evaluates and resolves problems by reviewing multiple sources of information and drawing conclusions and assists less experienced team members in using technology.
This position completes a variety of non-routine technical assignments independently. Candidate should be proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develops detailed 2D and 3D structural drawings, plans, sections, and elevations using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Proficient using discipline-specific tools including Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks
- Has selected a discipline focus and demonstrates ability to apply technical skills to discipline design.
- Assists with establishing initial structural framing layouts during early project stages.
- Collaborates with engineers and designers to transform conceptual sketches and specifications into accurate technical drawings.
- Collaborates with other disciplines such as architecture, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), and civil engineering to ensure design integration.
- Checks own work and coordinates work with related disciplines.
- Reviews and verifies drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards and company guidelines.
- Ensures that drawings are properly labeled, dimensioned, and annotated according to project requirements.
- Stays updated with software updates and new features to optimize workflow and productivity.
- Adheres to company drafting standards, CAD conventions, and best practices for file organization and naming.
- Prioritizes and manages multiple tasks to meet project deadlines and milestones.
- Efficiently handles revisions and updates to drawings in response to design changes.
- Identifies design issues or conflicts and proposes solutions in collaboration with the engineering team.
- Takes responsibility for their portion of the discipline's scope, schedule, and budget.
- Supports local office and remotely supports other offices using Bluebeam Revu software for drawing coordination.
- Provide guidance and training to junior structural designers or interns on drafting techniques, software usage, and industry practices.
- Associate's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience (15+ years) working in the architectural/engineering (A/E) industry supporting projects in the specialty chemicals, heavy industrial, and manufacturing industries.
- Ability to travel as this position may require individuals to spend time onsite with customers.
- Ability/Willingness to climb to elevated platforms via plant stairs and ladders at client sites.
- Good communicator and team player.
- Must show ownership and follow-through on assigned projects.
- Interest in professional growth.
- Ability to learn quickly and grasp new concepts, especially as they relate to engineering and construction.
