What You Will Do
- Lead and provide technical guidance to junior engineers on the manufacturing engineering team to support production safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics.
- Troubleshoot and solve production problems with processes, tooling/fixtures, or equipment already in operation.
- Make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
- Drive root‑cause corrective actions and implement process improvements to prevent safety or quality issues from reoccurring.
- Support quality control plans and safety compliance actions.
- Propose sequences of operations and installations; support specification of procedures for fabrication of tools and equipment, including disassembly, assembly, and repairs, to ensure efficiency and optimize product performance.
- Participate in developing manufacturing processes for new product integration.
- Determine, develop, and implement measurements throughout stages of production to control applicable variables.
- Participate in designing and arranging machines within plant facilities for more efficient and productive layouts.
- Manage high‑value process improvement projects from engineering justification to equipment specification, vendor selection, planning/scheduling, purchasing, updates, acquisition, implementation, validation, and other related tasks needed to execute the project successfully.
- Perform pre‑production analysis on process and tooling/equipment readiness.
- Conduct various engineering analyses using tools to adjust complex manufacturing processes for quality results.
- Recommend design changes to the mechanical engineering team to enhance manufacturability of products manufactured or assembled at the Fairfield site.
- Typical requirement: a university degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and at least 3 years of experience.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residence required.
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within an organization.
- Solid presentation skills—able to analyze, prepare, and deliver presentations to leadership.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
