Duties Summary
The Engineer I performs routine professional engineering work requiring the application of basic engineering principles and techniques, according to specific instructions and following well-established practices; and performs other related duties as assigned.
The Engineer II performs specific and limited professional engineering assignments requiring application of standard professional methods and techniques, which may involve minor phases of a broad project; and performs other related duties as assigned.
The Engineer III performs moderately difficult professional engineering work in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, operation and/or evaluation of engineering projects or facilities or assists higher-level engineers on more complex projects; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsApplicants will be placed on the eligible list for all levels for which they are qualified.
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- Legal authorization to work in the United States, i.e., citizens, nationals, permanent residents, or otherwise eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
- Basic education: a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university in engineering. Substitutions may apply as described in the complete Minimum Qualification Requirements.
- Engineering experience:
- None required for Engineer I.
- One year for Engineer II.
- Two years for Engineer III.
- Driver’s license: some positions may require a valid driver’s license.
- Physical requirement: possibility of lifting and carrying loads, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Security clearance: SIDA or TWIC clearance may be required for certain positions. The cost for required criminal history checks is the applicant’s responsibility.
