Position: Maintenance Technician-1st shift-7am-3pm-$32.00 per hour+

The Maintenance Controls Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of our manufacturing equipment and systems. This position involves a combination of technical expertise in control systems, electrical engineering, and maintenance practices within a food manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Control Systems Management:
    Maintain control systems for various manufacturing equipment and processes. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and other automation components. Optimize control strategies to enhance equipment efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Electrical Systems Maintenance:
    Conduct preventive maintenance tasks on electrical systems, including motors, drives, sensors, and other electrical components. Diagnose and repair electrical faults to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted production. Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and execute maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Adhere to all relevant safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment. Perform regular safety inspections and participate in safety training programs. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to electrical and control systems.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation to improve productivity and reduce costs. Implement upgrades and modifications to existing control systems to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and troubleshooting efforts. Document control system configurations, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation as needed.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Education/Certifications and

    Experience:

    High school diploma or GED, required. Technical or Associate Degree, Electrical Journeyman’s License, or certificate in related trades, preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field, is a plus. At least 1 year of related experience in a manufacturing environment. Proven experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

    N/A
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and SCADA systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, including motors, drives, and industrial sensors.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to electrical and control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and learn new technologies as needed.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Work involves daily and frequent exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness and/or poor lighting, noise, and vibration. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity. Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks and hazards, such as working around mechanical equipment, mechanical hazards, forklifts, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire and explosives hazards, communicable diseases.

Position requires the ability to stand; walking around office, warehouse, and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting on a daily basis.
