The entry level Chemist or Material Engineer 1, analyzes, researches, and designs materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in energetic devices and aircraft escape systems. The associate performs laboratory analyses and characterization that include, but are not limited to, chemical analysis, failure analysis of components, and definition and requirement specifications. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.
May review and approve subcontractor procedures.
As an entry level Chemical/Materials Engineer 1 at Collins Aerospace/RTX, you will… analyze, research, design and develop materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in systems and subsystems. Perform material analyses that include, but are not limited to, failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.
Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Develop and maintain drawing requirements for materials. Cooperate with the development teams to assure that the correct materials are selected for new products. Document the reasons for material selections and the factors that were considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Material Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
