Position Summary
The Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting a safe, compliant, and hazard-free work environment across manufacturing operations. This role partners with Human Resources, Operations, and Leadership to ensure OSHA compliance, reduce risk, and strengthen the safety culture through training, inspections, and proactive prevention.
Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Compliance & Oversight
- Monitor daily operations to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, internal policies, and industry standards
- Conduct routine safety inspections of equipment, machinery, and work areas
- Identify hazards and implement corrective actions to prevent injuries
- Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and documentation
- Lead investigations of accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions
- Document findings and recommend corrective and preventive actions
- Maintain OSHA logs, incident reports, and safety records
- Support Workers' Compensation reporting and follow-up
- Deliver safety training for new hires and current employees
- Maintain training records and ensure compliance with required certifications
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and refresher training sessions
- Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and ergonomic assessments
- Support implementation of engineering controls and PPE improvements
- Participate in Safety Committee meetings and lead improvement initiatives
- Assist with emergency preparedness planning and drills
- Maintain emergency equipment (AEDs, first aid kits, fire extinguishers)
- Coordinate evacuation drills and shelter-in-place procedures
- Serve as a point of contact during emergency situations
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial safety
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety best practices
- Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to identify hazards and implement effective corrective actions
- Preferred certifications: OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, or other safety credentials
- Strong attention to detail
- Problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Excellent documentation and recordkeeping skills
Ability to influence and coach employees at all levels - Commitment to a zero-incident safety culture
