Position Overview
The HR Specialist – Payroll is responsible for executing the complete payroll cycle in Paylocity with accuracy, confidentiality and compliance. This role manages time and attendance data, maintains employee payroll records and provides responsive support to employees regarding pay‑related matters. You will partner with supervisors and HR leadership to ensure payroll is processed on time and in alignment with company policies and wage laws.
Key Responsibilities- Process bi‑weekly payroll from start to finish using Paylocity, including auditing and approving employee timecards.
- Import approved hours into the HR & Payroll system, verify totals and ensure correct pay rates, job classifications, deductions and earning codes.
- Review payroll previews, investigate discrepancies and make necessary corrections, including retroactive pay, bonuses, shift premiums and other adjustments.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll information and employee data.
- Monitor timecard exceptions, missing punches and attendance issues, and assist supervisors with approvals and corrections.
- Audit paid time off (PTO), holiday pay and leave balances, and track unpaid hours for reporting purposes.
- Respond promptly and professionally to employee payroll questions, and support new hire onboarding in Paylocity.
- Update employee records, deductions and direct deposit information; process final pay during terminations.
- Generate payroll, attendance and headcount reports as needed and maintain records for audit readiness.
- Provide accurate payroll data and insights to HR leadership upon request.
- Experience processing payroll in Paylocity or a similar HRIS/payroll platform (required or strongly preferred).
- Thorough knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws and compliance requirements.
- High attention to detail, accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Experience in a manufacturing or high‑volume environment is preferred.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Commitment to accuracy and accountability.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality.
