IT Help Desk Technician

Salary: $20 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (flexible as needed)

Hours per Week: 37.5

Job Summary: Serve as IT operator and maintainer of USC Salkehatchie desktops, assist the IT Director with day‑to‑day routine activities, and serve as a backup on the Allendale and Walterboro campuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Order and maintain IT supplies and computer inventories.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating computer images and upgrades.
  • Manage proper disposal of all obsolete computer assets in accordance with USC surplus property policy.
  • Instruct and train end users in proper techniques of operations.
  • Maintain end‑user inventory records.
  • Respond to all computer and smart classroom equipment failures following USC Salkehatchie Help Desk ticketing procedures for immediate corrective actions.
  • Make mechanical repairs and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Report outages to the IT Director.
  • Call in repairs on lease equipment (e.g., network copiers) covered under maintenance contracts to appropriate vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of desktop support, hardware, and Windows operating systems support required.
  • Associate’s Degree and 5 years of experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience, training, and certifications may be substituted for education.
