About the Role

Senior Workforce Data Analyst serving within the Labor Market Information (LMI) division in Columbia, South Carolina. The role leverages confidential administrative data and publicly available resources pertaining to workforce development to generate actionable insights for the agency, state, businesses, and jobseekers. The analyst will provide support to the Coordinating Council for Workforce Development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as project lead on analyses of data for the state's education and workforce development system.
  • Communicate workforce insights effectively to stakeholders.
  • Develop, produce, implement, and deliver workforce information reports, analyses, products, and services.
  • Serve as SME on relevant developments in economics and public policy.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, public policy, public administration, mathematics, statistics, data analytics, computer science, or a related field and five years of research and analysis experience, OR a doctoral or professional degree in any of these fields.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Substantial knowledge of Excel, Power BI, Python, R, Stata and/or SQL.
  • Extensive experience with statistical analysis and social science research techniques.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts within other divisions, agencies and organizations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and engagingly with a wide variety of stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree.
  • Two years of experience outside of academia in research and analysis of policy challenges.
  • Professional writing experience.
