IT Project Manager
AICG is a data, analytics, and AI professional services firm headquartered in Fort Mill, South Carolina (Charlotte Metro). We design and build modern data platforms, analytics solutions, and AI-enabled systems for our clients, specializing in Azure Fabric, AWS, Oracle Cloud systems, and we build and operate our own products including DLH.io, Unit Ops, and DBDeux.
CompensationSalary w/benefits: $65,000 - $75,000 (depending on experience)
The RoleAs a technical project manager, you will own the plan, the schedule, and the communication for our client engagements and internal product work. You are not expected to write code. You are expected to understand enough of what our engineers are doing to hold a schedule, spot risks, provide status reports, track work in a project management tool such as Jira, and clearly communicate to our client sponsors in layman terms.
If you are the person who quietly keeps three projects from falling apart while everyone else focuses on the technical work, this is your role.
What You Will Do- Own project plans, schedules, and task breakdowns across 2-3 concurrent client engagements
- Help the team run the delivery cadence: kickoffs, working sessions, sprint or milestone reviews, and client status calls, each with an agenda published in advance and written follow-ups sent afterward
- Keep work accurately reflected in our project management system: epics, stories, tasks, estimates, owners, and due dates that match reality, not wishful thinking
- Translate in both directions between engineers and business stakeholders without losing accuracy
- Track delivered work against the signed statement of work, identify scope changes early, and coordinate change requests with leadership before the work gets absorbed
- Maintain a live risk, assumption, issue, and dependency log, and drive open items to closure
- Produce clean written artifacts: status reports, meeting notes with decisions and action items, requirements summaries, including handoff and training documentation with the technical team
- Hold team members and client counterparts accountable to committed dates, and elevate
- Build and maintain repeatable delivery process: templates, checklists, and onboarding steps
- Support delivery with effort estimates, resourcing plans, and timeline input for proposals and SOWs
- Four or more years managing projects end to end, in a part-time or full-time capacity, in technology, software, consulting, or corporate environments. Formal certification is not required. Demonstrated results are.
- Excellent written and spoken English, including grammar, punctuation, and structure. Your writing goes directly to clients, so it needs to be correct without someone editing it first.
- Proven ability to run a meeting: agenda distributed in advance, discussion kept on track and on time, decisions and action items captured and distributed after
- Comfort speaking to engineers and to non-technical executives in the same meeting, adjusting your language without changing the facts
- Working proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets (formulas, pivots, building and maintaining schedule and effort trackers), Microsoft Word or Google Docs
- Hands-on experience with a project management system. Jira is preferred;
Asana, Monday, Smartsheet, Azure Dev Ops, or Click Up are acceptable if you configured and ran it yourself. - Strong documentation discipline, writing and structuring information for future retrieval, etc.
- Availability during United States Eastern Standard Time business hours
- Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Familiarity with engineering, application development, and/ or data and analytics concepts: databases, SQL, ETL or ELT, data warehousing, BI dashboards, cloud platforms (Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP), dbt, or AI and machine learning projects. You do not need to build any of it. You must be able to follow the technical conversations and ask the right next questions and coordinate efforts.
- Experience in a professional services, consulting, or agency experience with billable clients
- Experience with statements of work, change orders, budget tracking, and time tracking
- Working experience with Agile or Scrum practices in a real delivery setting
- Familiarity with modern communication tools, ex:
Office 365, Confluence, Notion, Slack, and Google Workspace - PMP, CAPM, CSM, or PMI-ACP certification. A plus, never a requirement.
