Position: Pipe Welder Journeyman (MGR)

Green Wood, Inc. is now actively recruiting applicants for our Pipe Welder Journeyman position. We are looking for applicants who are interested in a Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt position at the Mitsubishi site in Greer, SC. Employees normally work Monday through Thursday, 7:00am-5:30pm, 40 hours per week and occasional overtime as needed. We are currently looking for an applicant who is interested in a position without the need to travel.

Green Wood does not offer per diem at this job site.

The Pipe Welder is responsible for completing welds on pipes according to specified standards. Perform the daily operations of, and the preparation, assembling, and repair of all pipe systems of various shapes, sizes, and pressures; and has knowledge regarding welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment, and utilizing welding knowledge per the customer drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.

Position

Responsibilities - Essential
  • Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other material by applying appropriate welding techniques
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine appropriate welding process to be used
  • Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness
  • Assists with tests on new components, assemblies, and systems based on test criteria as established by the policies and procedures and/or written test plans
  • Ability to use, maintain and possess required hand tools necessary to perform task assigned
  • Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
  • Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, Green Wood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position.
Position Responsibilities - Non-Essential/Other
  • Maintains welding equipment
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
Essential Skills And Experience
  • Five (5) years of experience in both pipe systems, testing processes and equipment, and commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures with the welding field
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency
  • Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work
  • Demonstrates ability to perform repetitive tasks with focus on quantity and quality
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates a high level of communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job but with minimal direct supervision
  • Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
Beneficial Skills And Experience
  • Greater than five (5) years of experience in pipe systems, welding and testing processes and equipment
