The Backup Poly Set-Up Operator is responsible for setting up and operating an injection molding machine to make pins, M2 inserts, and other molded accessories within specifications.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:Full understanding of quality standard, E00018. Can teach new operators.
Acts as backup to team leader in their absence.
Places insert into molding machine , produces first piece , g ets approval and begins run operations. Operates machine ensuring downtime is minimized.
Physically remove panel from machine and load machine with next insert. Cut, trim off flash and finish panel to quality standards.
Must have complete working knowledge of material drying system.
Responsible for the proper labeling and scanning of completed panels according to procedure.
Die to be inspected upon completion of run. Returns die to tool room.
Places scrapped product in scrap cart. Report scrap to ERP system.
Monitors worker and machine performance and adjusts as necessary to meet production goals.
Maintains good housekeeping, 5s and safety practices in work area.
Reports labor and material use to ERP system.
Perform related duties as required.
Skills/Certifications:
Overhead crane certification.
Minimum Education & Work Experience RequiredHigh school or GED diploma .
2-3 years’ work experience with injection molding machinery.
Understands English to properly respond to quality suggestions.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Read blueprints and c alculate measurements.
Supervisory Responsibility & Budget Accountability:For the quality of parts produced, meeting daily production targets and the care of tooling.
Little responsibility for the safety of others.
The job is performed in a manufacturing environment where dust and noise is prevalent.
Other Comments:W orks with injection molding machines, gauges and hand tools.
Uses independent judgement and discretion based upon the employee’s experience in the position and knowledge of the products, equipment, and services.
Moderate levels of stress may be experienced in the performance of the job.
Position is performed in a manufacturing environment (non-conditioned).
This is an on-site role and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
