Demonstration Site VISTA

To help improve Sustaining Way’s efficiency and effectiveness in addressing food insecurity and access to and consumption of healthy food in Nicholtown and other low income. The VISTA project will accomplish this by increasing resident participation in food security programs and activities, developing food security impact measures and means to track, developing/organizing processes and procedures for site and garden maintenance, increasing food security educational offerings and increasing volunteer engagement in food security related initiatives.

Member Duties : Responsible for the development and implementation of garden, landscape and building projects at Annie's House (AH)
Engage staff, volunteers and partners to support maintenance of the garden, landscape and buildings at Annie's House Review and update site maintenance plans for AH and train appropriate staff and volunteers.

Develop and implement site organizational processes/practices and train appropriate staff and volunteers.

Design the process to host on-site tours and educational programming for general public, including open houses and special events; educate visitors and volunteers about sustainable agriculture

Coordinate food security related volunteers including lead volunteer work days Document and organize processes and procedures related to community gardens and other food security related activities including for site and garden maintenance

Organize food related educational opportunities (events, training, workshops, etc.)
