Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Pet Resort Shift Lead to help provide outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital.
The Pet Resort Shift Lead is responsible for all kennel assistant duties including maintaining back of hospital duties. These tasks include: caring for boarding animals, maintaining appropriate feeding schedules/providing prescribed medication to pets, maintaining the kennel area (cleaning and mopping), bathing animals and upholding the highest level of care for all pets. Additional duties may include general cleaning of the hospital and communicating directly with clients.
This is a FULL‑TIME position estimated 40 hours a week, hours approximately 5:45 AM – 2:00 PM. Weekend and holiday availability is a must.
In addition to daily kennel assistant duties such as cleaning cages, feeding, walking, and caring for dogs and cats, bathing dogs and cats, maintaining cleanliness of facility and overseeing doggie day camp; the Shift Lead’s responsibilities also include (but are not limited to):
- Managing all aspects of morning operations of boarding facility to ensure proper care and opening of Doggie Day Camp and boarding buildings.
- Directly supervising a team of 4–6 employees.
- Strong communication skills with team and with other departments.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to problem‑solve in stressful situations.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, healthy and positive communication skills, and the ability to multi‑task in a hands‑on environment.
- Energetic people‑and‑pet person with excellent work ethic and social and organizational skills.
- Be compassionate/caring.
- Willing to work flexible hours including weekends.
- Can work individually, as well as on a team.
- Self‑starter personality that can complete daily tasks without the need for constant direction.
- This position requires regular on‑site presence as an essential function of the role. Due to the nature of veterinary hospital operations, in‑person attendance is necessary to support patient care, respond to time‑sensitive needs, collaborate with clinical teams, and maintain the safety and well‑being of patients, clients, and staff. Knowledge, & Expertise
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Prior customer service experience.
- Prior experience working with animals in a hospital setting.
- Ability to work in a wet environment.
- Previous manager‑level responsibilities required (for example: key holder, team lead, shift supervisor, etc.).
- Applicants should have basic understanding of animal behavior and be comfortable with dogs/cats of all sizes.
