Description Position Summary
Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that components, and manufacturing processes meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role focuses on inspection, testing, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement in industries such as aerospace, automotive, marine, or advanced manufacturing.
RequirementsKey Responsibilities Quality Assurance & Control
- Inspect incoming raw materials (yarns) to verify compliance with specifications
- Perform final inspections using visual and dimensional checks
- Ensure adherence to industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100 Rev
D., ASTM)
- Review test data for compliance with engineering specifications
- Maintain calibration and traceability of testing equipment
- Identify, document, and track non-conforming materials and products
- Lead root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, or FMEA
- Implement and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturing processes
- Analyze quality trends and KPIs to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Support Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence programs
- Maintain quality documentation including inspection reports, test records, and audit results
- Assist with internal and external audits (customer, regulatory, certification bodies)
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies
- Support supplier qualification and evaluation processes
- Review supplier quality documentation and certifications
- Participate in supplier audits and improvement initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
OR - Equivalent experience in composites manufacturing and quality roles
- 1-3 years in quality assurance or quality control
- Experience with aerospace or advanced materials strongly preferred
- Knowledge of composite materials (carbon fiber, fiberglass, resin systems)
- Familiarity with quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100 Rev
D., NADCAP) - Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience with quality tools
- Basic knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) preferred
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Quality Technician (CQT)
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Manufacturing and production floor environment
- Exposure to chemicals, and fiber materials (PPE required)
- May require lifting, standing for extended periods, and occasional travel
- First Pass Yield (FPY)
- Scrap and rework rates
- Supplier defect rates
- Audit findings and closure time
- CAPA effectiveness
