Position: Quality Control Inspector Lead (Nights)

Overview

In the Quality Control Inspector Lead role, you will be responsible for supporting the Quality Control Manager and management team with the day-to-day operations of the Quality Control department employees, maintaining positive employee relations. In addition, this position will function as a back-up Quality Control Inspector as operationally necessary. You will conduct inspections and provide quality services to ensure company products and processes meet customer, company, and other specifications.

This role supports company initiatives, provides training, and assists the Quality Control Manager and other factories in resolving quality-related issues.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Assure that employees operate consistently within the policies and procedures of VPET USA INC.
  • Forecast, plan, and make necessary workforce adjustments/recommendations to the Quality Control Manager to align with the Quality Control department schedules.
  • Coordinate all employee-related breaks to assure appropriate QC department coverage.
  • Carry out assigned tasks to the team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach performance goals.
  • Serve as a link between shifts, communicating quality assurance issues on daily quality matters such as processing hold items, item disposition, quality alerts, and NARs.
  • Validate inspectors’ inspections; the lead will sign off the inspection reports QC006 and QC026 as part of the second inspection validation process to ensure machines are running within specifications.
  • Create First Article Inspection Sheet and Wall Distribution Sheet.
  • Provide orientation and training for new employees as assigned.
  • Cross‑train with Quality Control Inspectors and act as delegate in their absence.
  • Prepare and present hold tags for the Quality Manager review and material disposition.
  • Work with other company personnel to resolve inspection questions such as status of parts in hold and certificate of conformance.
  • Work with the Document Control Clerk to maintain a database of blueprints, inspection sheets, and wall distribution sheets.
  • Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action to supervisor.
  • Participate in the construction and/or revision of SOPs for the inspection function.
  • Provide support to production team when required.
  • Visually and physically inspect materials, components, subassemblies, assemblies, tools, and final product configurations using blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, orders, and other applicable sources to observe, measure, and record conformity to customer, regulatory, and company specifications.
  • Record compliance with quality standards to verify that company products and processes meet customer, company, and other specifications.
  • Solve inspection problems; methods, procedures, plans, and details.
  • Audit products and processes to verify the system.
  • Maintain necessary inspection logs and write inspection reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2–5 years’ previous mechanical inspection background with ability to use basic hand measurement tools (calipers, high gauge, micrometers, etc.) preferred. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Familiar with SQF 2000, HACCP, and GMP preferred.
  • Experience in the plastic bottle industry or in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
