This Wildlife Biologist II position in the Department of Natural Resources' Marine Resources Division involves field sampling for the Reef Fish Survey group and collection of fish samples from commercial and recreational sources. The role includes leading or assisting with life history studies, participating in scientific research cruises lasting up to 14 days, analyzing fish specimens, and supporting coastal research projects.
The position is based in Charleston County, SC and reports to the Marine Research Institute.
- Master's degree in biology, chemistry or related field, OR bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, wildlife management or related field with 2+ years relevant experience
- Ability to work in challenging at-sea conditions during trips up to 14 days
- Knowledge of Southeast fish identification
- Experience with fish life history and life history studies
- Ability to swim and lift heavy objects
- Discipline, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
