Position: Metal Fabricator/Millwright  (MGR)

Overview

Green Wood, Inc. is recruiting for the Metal Fabricator/Millwright position at the Mitsubishi site in Greer, SC. This is a Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt role. Work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 7:00am–5:30pm (40 hours per week) with occasional overtime as needed. No travel required and per diem is not offered at this site.

Position Summary

The Metal Fabricator/Millwright is responsible for fabricating steel and aluminum frames, brackets, stands, industrial carts, racks, and other parts that may be worn or in need of replacement. The role also involves installing machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and drawings in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities – Essential
  • Analyze all required blueprints, drawings, work orders, and sketches to fabricate and install the desired product or part.
  • Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, including carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Perform industrial fabrication work using carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Inspect, assemble, and smooth seams and joints of burred surfaces.
  • Set up machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal.
  • Measure, cut, and shape metal materials according to the design.
  • Use tools and equipment for cutting and shaping metals (e.g., anvils, blocks, brakes, forms, hammers).
  • Check all structural components prior to installation to prevent damage.
  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Assemble metal components by welding or using rivets, screws, and other fasteners.
  • Inspect final products for quality and adherence to the design.
  • Dismantle machines using hand tools (hammers, wrenches, crowbars, etc.).
  • Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Assemble and install equipment (shafting, conveyors, tram rails) using hand and power tools, fastening to foundations or structures.
  • Repair and lubricate machines and equipment as needed.
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and follow safety procedures to maintain a positive safety culture.
  • This role is designated as “safety-sensitive.”
Position Responsibilities – Non-Essential/Other
  • Maintain tools and equipment.
  • Conduct process inspection, certification, and documentation.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Four (4) years of experience in metal fabrication and millwright work.
  • Ability to perform various types of welding.
  • Extensive knowledge of structural and sheet metal repairs and modifications, including fabrication of sheet metal parts.
  • Ability to read sketches to fabricate miscellaneous parts and perform repairs.
  • Ability to rig machinery and equipment to OSHA standards.
  • Ability to detect errors and correct through proper channels.
  • Thorough working knowledge of blueprints to determine configuration and special instructions prior to installation.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to prioritize with emphasis on quality of work.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Experience contributing to a positive safety culture.
