Job Summary

HM Staffing Solutions is seeking Cabling Technicians responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems in commercial, industrial, and residential environments. This includes copper and fiber optic cables used for data, voice, and video communications.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cables
• Mount and configure patch panels, racks, and network hardware
• Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical diagrams
• Perform cable testing using Fluke testers, OTDRs, and other diagnostic tools
• Label and document cable runs and network layouts
• Ensure compliance with safety codes and industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC)
• Collaborate with IT teams, contractors, and project managers
• Maintain tools, inventory, and job site cleanliness

Required Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1–3 years of experience in cabling or low-voltage installations
• Familiarity with copper and fiber cabling standards
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Certifications

• BICSI Installer or Technician
• CompTIA Network+
• OSHA 10/30
• Cisco Certified Technician (CCT)

Work Environment

• Field-based work in offices, schools, data centers, and construction sites
• May involve travel, ladder work, and lifting up to 50 lbs
• Often part of a team but must be able to work independently
