Brazer (2nd Shift)
The Brazer on 2nd shift plays a key role in assembling and joining copper components into coils using an oxygen-acetylene torch. In this position, you prepare and braze flare tube extensions, return bends, headers, manifold components, and various copper hookup parts, following blueprints and coil prints. You will make your own setups, select appropriate brazing rods, and ensure assemblies meet quality and production standards while performing basic arithmetic to support accurate measurements and layouts.
Responsibilities- Assemble flare tube extensions, return bends, headers, manifold components, and copper hookup parts into coils according to blueprints and coil prints.
- Prepare header and manifold components for brazing both on and off the line.
- Set up workstations and make your own brazing setups to support efficient production.
- Braze components using an oxygen-acetylene torch with BCUP 5 braze rod and Stay-Silv Brazing Flux.
- Assemble and braze headers and manifold components into completed sub-assemblies.
- Braze components using various brazing rods to meet specific job requirements.
- Braze 180- and 360-degree joints using a braze torch to create durable and accurate connections.
- Braze return bends, headers, and sub-assemblies to coils using coil prints and work instructions.
- Braze brass fittings to copper components while maintaining strong and leak-free joints.
- Monitor inventory levels of headers and manifold sub-assemblies and communicate needs to support continuous production.
- Use various hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices such as tape measures to perform mechanical assembly tasks.
- Read blueprints and apply simple arithmetic to verify dimensions, align components, and ensure accurate assembly.
- Follow plant safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in a large manufacturing environment.
- Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting, and stooping as required to complete daily work.
- Hands-on brazing experience using BCUP 5 braze rod and Stay-Silv Brazing Flux.
- Proficiency in using an oxygen-acetylene braze torch for production brazing work.
- Mechanical aptitude, including experience with mechanical assembly in a plant environment.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and coil prints.
- Capability to perform simple arithmetic to support accurate measurements and layouts.
- Comfort working in a large, non-temperature-controlled plant environment while standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and stooping as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience brazing 180- and 360-degree joints with a braze torch.
- Ability to braze brass fittings to copper components while maintaining quality standards.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools, including tape measures and related measuring devices.
- Experience with mechanical assembly using both hand tools and power tools.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality brazed assemblies.
- Ability to work independently to set up workstations and manage tasks within a production schedule.

WorkEnvironment
This position is based in a large manufacturing plant that is not temperature-controlled, so working conditions may vary with the seasons. You will stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds on a non-repetitive basis, and stoop as necessary to access equipment and components. The role involves regular use of brazing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices in an industrial setting that emphasizes safety, productivity, and teamwork.
Appropriate work attire is required for a plant environment, including clothing and footwear suitable for industrial work and adherence to all safety guidelines.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grenada, MS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
