OverviewThe Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The role requires knowledge of each product area, contributions to store goals and initiatives, and a strong focus on customer experience. In the Store Manager's absence, the Manager in Training assumes supervisory responsibility and is trained in the Store Manager's full range of duties.
Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans that accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability across all departments.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, as outlined in the customer service manual, including helping customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in relevant manuals and company memos.
- Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risks to management.
- Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Interview, train, plan, assign, and direct work of staff, and resolve problems.
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1-3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and maintain overall goals and profit targets.
- Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being prompted.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team-player passionate about outstanding customer service and sales of merchandise.
