OverviewAs an On‑Call Registered Dental Hygienist you will provide direct dental hygiene clinical treatment and education in oral health maintenance and prevention to dental clinic patients or the community.
Develop and implement an individual preventive oral health program for clinic patients and other interested individuals and organizations.
Clinical hygienists will achieve improved oral health for patients as a vital component to the oral health team. They also provide education and prevention services to a culturally diverse population.
Responsibilities- Provide clinical dental hygiene services including prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, fluoride application, complete periodontal charting and periodontal treatment, expose and mount dental radiographs, place dental sealants, take blood pressure, review and sign paper medical history of patients and proper chart documentation.
- Educate patients on preventive dental actions, demonstrate brushing and cleaning methods, and provide written materials to reinforce best oral health techniques.
- Develop an individual prevention plan for each client considering their physical, mental and emotional skills and limitations.
- Administer topical and local anesthetic.
- Prescribe fluoride and antimicrobial solutions.
- Provide triage for emergency situations and improve patient flow; respond to emergencies.
- Maintain strict asepsis controls to prevent transmission of communicable diseases, maintain control over toxic materials, and maintain and follow all safety standards and protocols.
- Work in central sterilization, including processing and sterilizing instruments for all providers.
- Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene or equivalent.
- One (1) to four (4) years of experience demonstrating ability to perform duties.
- Dental Hygiene license issued by the State of Oregon.
- BLS CPR Certification (attach copy).
- Nitrous oxide permit in Oregon.
- Expanded Practice permit in Oregon.
- Fluency in a language other than English.
- Experience using Epic/Wisdom EHR.
