Position: Educational Assistant- ELL (TEMP)(DLI)

Projected Start Date

Approximately October 30, 2025. Exact date to be determined by the district.

Position Type and Requirements

This is a Temporary position for the 25/26 SY Only.

This is a DLI position and requires applicants to be bilingual.

Work Hours: 3.5 hours/day, 182 days/year.

Salary Range: 9 (To be paid at range 10 once bilingual proficiency is verified) $21.64 to $29.65/hour (Range 10: $22.29-$30.54).

Position Summary

The Educational Assistant – ELL provides educational supports through supervision and instruction for English language learner (ELL) students under the direction of licensed staff; completes routine clerical tasks for teachers; and serves as a resource to other school personnel requiring assistance with limited English-speaking persons.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Prior job-related experience, paid or volunteer, with school age children.
  • Completed associates or higher degree, completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (72 college quarter hours or more) or met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance and First Aid/CPR card.

  • Handling multiple projects, and tasks to meet deadlines

Essential Job Functions
  • Works under the guidance and direction of the teacher with access to assistance and consultation
  • Works collaboratively by assisting teachers in assessment, supporting curriculum, student interactions, enforcing safe behaviors, and enhancing social growth of student in the school setting.
  • Provides instructional support to students in large groups, small groups, and one-on-one situations.
  • Administers tests and language assessments under the guidance of a classroom teacher or resource teacher for the purpose of evaluating student’s language ability
  • Confers with teachers, parents and/or appropriate community agency personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluation of students' progress and/or implementing of students' objectives
  • Performs record keeping and basic clerical functions, scheduling, copying, etc. to support teachers in maintaining student files and providing classroom materials in the students' primary language
