Job Summary
Provides quality instruction that will contribute to the learning experiences necessary for each student to meet the objectives of the course and to be successful in both their education and career development experiences.
Essential Duties- Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center or other setting as appropriate.
- Provides student contact before or after class or through telephone or email exchanges or office hours where facilities and schedules permit.
- Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate; incorporates the latest classroom technology when available and appropriate into instructional activities.
- Structures classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall program objectives; prepares clear objectives for students each course. Maintains and revises curriculum to maintain currency.
- Understands, develops and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates sensitivity to diversity within the College community.
- Responsible for classroom, laboratory and departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate.
- Understands and abides by College policies and regulations and other policies, procedures and materials as required by the College, departments or divisions.
- Convenes classes on time and as scheduled.
- Maintains evaluation and grading records for assigned students; enters grades and provides all necessary documentation for in completes within established College timelines.
- Ensures and emphasizes safe working and classroom conditions and practices.
- May participate in professional development activities.
- Maintains current licenses or certificates in areas of expertise.
- May attend in-service sessions and division meetings.
- May direct aides and work‑study students as assigned.
- Understands and uses the College's computer system.
Education: Master’s degree with 24 graduate hours in health, health and fitness, exercise physiology or physical education (Significant work experience and professional certifications in the profession may substitute for the master’s degree).
Experience / Training- Minimum (1) year of full‑time or part‑time teaching and/or coaching experience.
- Current American Red Cross Instructor certification OR American Heart Association certification in First Aid, AED, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
Work is typically performed in an office and classroom settings including, but not limited to, academic settings, fitness centers, weight rooms, dance studios, and athletic facilities. Some positions have physical requirements specific to assigned duties.
SalarySalary placement will be based on applicable education and/or years of relevant equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College, per the guidelines in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Please include all relevant education and full and part‑time experience in your application that you want the College to review towards potential placement.
Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process. Position subject to budget consideration and approval.
