Contract Details: 192/193 Contract days, Permanent Contract, 1.00 FTE. Final date to receive applications:

Qualifications: State of Oregon Teaching License with Physical Education PK-12 endorsement and current First Aid Card.

Compensation: Salary and stipends prorated based on FTE and start/end dates.  Annual Salary Range $52,347 - $108,785 (192/193 Day Contract). Initial placement based on education and contracted licensed experience. Eligible for specialty stipend of $2,000 if certified Multilingual in specified languages.

Job Summary

The job of "Teacher - Middle School" is to develop students' academic skills, implement district-approved curriculum, document teaching and student progress, address specific educational needs, provide a safe learning environment, and provide feedback to stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions
  • Help each pupil develop competence in subject matter skills and motivate application of understanding to problem solving.
  • Teach courses to secondary pupils utilizing the board‑adopted curriculum and appropriate instructional aids.
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements as specified by state law.
  • Develop lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids.
  • Demonstrate concepts using models, chalkboard, projector, and other aids.
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction as needed.
  • Design learning activities that relate subject area to the physical world.
  • Maintain standards of pupil behavior to create an orderly classroom.
  • Evaluate pupil progress and prepare progress reports; may prepare letters of recommendation.
  • Perform attendance accounting and business services.
  • Plan and coordinate work of aides, assistants, or paraprofessionals.
  • Communicate with parents, counselors, and staff about pupil progress.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with staff to address health and learning problems.
  • Supervise pupils in out‑of‑classroom activities during the day.
  • Maintain professional competence through in‑service education and self‑selected growth activities.
  • Duties may be added, deleted, or changed at management discretion.
  • Prompt and regular attendance.
Other Job Functions
  • Assist other personnel as required.
  • Participate in meetings such as parent conferences, in‑service training, and site meetings.
  • Select and requisition instructional supplies and maintain inventory records.
  • Participate in curriculum and developmental programs within the school or district.
  • Share in sponsorship of student activities and participate in faculty committees.

Job Requirements & Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience

    Required:

    Prior job‑related experience.
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

    Required:

    • Skills to motivate students, communicate across cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate performance.
    • Knowledge of age‑appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, instructional subjects.
    • Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform varied tasks, maintain records, and uphold cooperative relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Licenses or Certifications

    Required:

    • Teaching Credential for appropriate level.
    • Highly Qualified Status.
    • Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance.
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid certificates.
