Compensation- Annual Salary Range: $52,347 - $108,785 (192/193 Day Contract). Initial placement on the salary schedule is based on education and contracted licensed experience.
- Specialty stipend of $2,000 for qualified multilingual certification in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, American Sign Language, or Russian (must pass a standardized proficiency test).
The job of Teacher – Middle School is to develop students' academic skills through secondary school courses, administer the district-approved curriculum, document teaching and student progress, address specific educational needs, provide a safe and optimal learning environment, and give feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
Essential Job Functions- Help each pupil develop competence in subject matter skills and motivate them to apply understanding and skills to problem solving.
- Build positive relationships with parents and staff members.
- Teach courses to secondary pupils using the board-approved curriculum and appropriate publications.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the curriculum as specified in state law and district regulations.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional aids.
- Demonstrate concepts using models, chalkboards, overhead projectors, and other instructional aids.
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction when needed to adapt the curriculum.
- Design learning activities that relate subject matter to the physical world.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to maintain an orderly classroom.
- Evaluate pupil progress in knowledge and skills, prepare progress reports, and may write letters of recommendation.
- Perform basic attendance accounting and business services as required.
- Plan and coordinate work of aides, teacher assistants, or paraprofessionals.
- Communicate with parents about teaching methods and discuss pupil progress.
- Identify pupil needs, cooperate with other staff to help pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned day.
- Maintain professional competence through district-provided in-service education and self-selected growth activities.
- Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed by management.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
- Assist other personnel as required to support their work activities.
- Participate in meetings (parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) for credential and information exchange.
- Select and requisition books, instructional aids, and supplies, maintaining required inventory records.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school and district; may teach under modular or flexible scheduling plans.
- Share in sponsorship of student activities and participate in faculty committees.

Required:- Motivate students, communicate with diverse individuals, direct support personnel, and evaluate performance.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, and appropriate instructional subjects.
- Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods; perform a variety of tasks; maintain records; establish cooperative relationships with students, parents, and staff; meet schedule and deadlines; lift, carry, and handle materials; talk, hear, and see effectively.
- Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Licenses, Bonding, and Testing
Required:- Teaching credential for appropriate level of instruction and/or subjects.
- Highly Qualified status for assignment.
- Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid certificates.
