Overview
EKT (Early Kindergarten Transition) Teacher — Hollydale Elementary is seeking in-district applicants for the Early Kindergarten Transition program. The EKT program is a two-week summer initiative designed to give children and families a jump-start into a successful kindergarten year. It focuses on academics, play, arts and music, exploration, and developing friendships in an inclusive and joyful classroom. The program partners with SUN and Multnomah County and includes two components: a two-week program for incoming kindergarten students and two classes offering family education sessions that are required.
The EKT teacher plans and leads all aspects of classroom instruction, communicates with families, and provides direction for the Educational Assistants (EAs). The EKT teacher must be a kindergarten teacher at the school hosting the program.
- Plan, prepare, and teach EKT program instruction based on Oregon’s Early Learning Standards.
- Guide and support EAs in daily work.
- Collaborate with SUN and parent educators.
- Support recruitment and family communication.
- Create a welcoming, engaging, and joyful kindergarten transition program.
- Collect and report data.
- Attend all onboarding and training prior to the program.
- Paid preparation and training after school/evenings prior to the start of the program (work remote when approved by Site Manager).
- Attend EKT family orientation the week prior to the program.
- EKT program hours: 8:00am – 1:00pm, Mondays–Thursdays from Aug 4 to Aug 15.
$30.00 per hour
Qualifications- State of Oregon TSPC license with proper endorsement, highly qualified status.
- Current first-aid card.
- Current or next-year Kindergarten teacher in the building.
