Salary Information:
• Instructional Assistant: 3.5 hours day, 182 days/year, Salary Range $21.64 – $29.65/hr.
• Health Assistant: 2.0 hours day, 182 days/year, Salary Range $22.29 – $30.54/hr.
The “Instructional Assistant” provides educational supports through supervision and instruction of students under the direction of licensed staff. Assistance to the licensed teacher is achieved through the planning and implementation of assigned instructional programs for students who are not in categorical programs (e.g., special education, ELL) and completing routine clerical tasks.
The “School Health Assistant” assists school personnel with specific student health issues and performs clerical duties for the health room. This position handles sensitive and confidential issues, requiring excellent communication skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Instructional Assistant:
- Experience:
Prior job‑related experience, paid or volunteer, with school‑age children. - Education:
Associate’s degree or higher, or at least two years of study at a higher‑education institution (72 college quarter hours or more), or a rigorous standard of academic assessment demonstrating knowledge in reading, writing, and mathematics. - Background:

First Aid/CPR card. - School Health Assistant:
- Experience:
Prior job‑related experience with increasing responsibility. - Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. - Background:

- Knowledge of child development principles and instructional practices.
- Operating standard office equipment and computer programs (email, system applications, word processing, database, spreadsheet).
- Basic clerical functions and arithmetic calculations.
- Effective written and verbal communication in English.
- Reading, interpreting, and applying rules, regulations, and policies.
- Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions.
- Rapid learning of instructional methods and materials.
- Self‑starter ability and teamwork.
- Planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimal supervision.
- Managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Interacting with individuals of diverse age groups and cultural backgrounds.
- Operating medical equipment (digital thermometers, nebulizers, glucometers, insulin pens, scales, inhalers, AEDs, auto‑injectors).
- Assist the licensed teacher under guidance and regular monitoring.
- Collaboratively contribute to assessment, curriculum, student interaction, safety enforcement, and social growth.
- Provide instructional support and tutoring in large groups, small groups, and one‑on‑one settings.
- Perform record‑keeping and basic clerical tasks (scheduling, copying, file maintenance).
- Coordinate with teachers to provide feedback on student performance.
- Support students in developing interpersonal relationships.
- Promote safety per district protocols.
- Monitor classroom and playground activities for a safe learning environment.
- Identify and respond to emergencies, calling for help and defusing situations.
- Evaluate situations and direct to appropriate personnel.
- Administer basic first aid and emergency care; refer emergencies to district nurse, administration, parents, and emergency medical personnel.
- Monitor student health status during short‑term rest or recovery.
- Collect and maintain health records per regulations.
- Perform delegated health care tasks for students with chronic health problems.
- Administer medication under protocols, maintaining accurate records.
- Notify nurse and/or parents of medication updates.
- Assist with health screenings.
