Hours and Salary5.75 hours/day, 182 days/year.
$22.29 to $30.54/hour.
Position SummaryThe Educational Assistant ELL provides educational supports through supervision and instruction for English language learner (ELL) students under the direction of licensed staff; completes routine clerical tasks for teachers; and serves as a resource to other school personnel requiring assistance with limited English-speaking persons.
Minimum Qualifications- Experience
Required:
Prior job‑related experience, paid or volunteer, with school‑age children. - Education Required:
Completed associate or higher degree, with at least two years (72 quarter hours) of higher education, or a rigorous standard of quality demonstrated through a formal state or local academic assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics. - Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing
Required:
Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance and First Aid/CPR card.

- Performing basic clerical functions and basic arithmetic calculations
- Operating standard office equipment and computer programs (e.g., email, system applications, word processing)
- Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing (correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation)

- Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions
- Rapidly learning methods and materials used in a variety of instructional situations
- Functioning as a self‑starter, working well independently or in a team
- Planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimum supervision
- Handling multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines
- Interacting with persons of different age groups and cultural backgrounds
- Works under the guidance and direction of the teacher with access to assistance and consultation.
- Works collaboratively by assisting teachers in assessment, supporting curriculum, student interactions, enforcing safe behaviors, and enhancing social growth of students in the school setting.
- Provides instructional support to students in large groups, small groups, and one‑on‑one situations.
- Administers tests and language assessments under the guidance of a classroom teacher or resource teacher for evaluating students' language ability.
- Confers with teachers, parents, and/or appropriate community agency personnel for evaluating students' progress and implementing students' objectives.
- Performs record keeping and basic clerical functions, scheduling, copying, etc., to support teachers in maintaining student files and providing classroom materials in the students' primary language.
- Records student progress in language acquisition for documenting performance and maintaining updated records.
- Translates verbal and written communication for assisting students, staff, and parents in communicating effectively.
- Supports students in developing positive interpersonal relationships with peers and adults.
- Evaluates situations to take appropriate action or direct the situation to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Assists other personnel as required to support them in completing their work activities related to the ESL program.
- Participates in various meetings for sharing information and improving skills and knowledge.
- Assists with transportation needs of students, including walking them to and from the bus and arranging transportation.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor within the scope of the job.
- Sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods; talk and hear conversations in a potentially noisy environment.
