We are currently seeking an After school Activity Leader to lead fun and engaging classes for a diverse group of students in the following areas: arts & crafts, sports, academic enrichment, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). Each class will consist of approximately 15 students grouped by grade level. Class materials and supplies will be provided.

Under the general supervision of the SUN Site Manager, SUN Activity Leaders are responsible for designing, planning and teaching after school activities. SUN after school programming enriches students’ lives by offering fun, hands‑on activities that inspire learning and build skills for healthy lifestyles. The goal is to provide a safe, positive learning environment that recognizes the potential of each child. Activities may include academic support, service‑learning, sports & recreation, fine arts, and other high‑interest themes.

Develop and facilitate after school activities. The employee will be responsible for programmatic, organizational, and classroom duties.

• Develop and teach engaging, age‑appropriate lessons with ties to academics, recreation, and/or the arts during the after school hours.
• Supervise groups of 12–15 students while maintaining school‑appropriate class decorum.
• Supervise groups during daily routines such as meal time, recess, bathroom breaks, and class transitions.
• Record and turn in student attendance daily.
• Maintain classroom and school rules to ensure students are safe.
• Communicate frequently with the SUN Site Manager about individual student progress, successes and concerns.
• Maintain positive working relationships with students, families, school staff, and custodians.
• Work within school and agency policies and protect student confidentiality.

• Experience teaching children and creating lesson plans.
• Desire and ability to work with children and ensure an enriching, positive, safe setting.
• Independent, self‑motivated, creative and resourceful.
• Excellent organization and interpersonal communication skills.
• Cooperative manner and ability to work as part of a team.
• Willingness to ask questions for clarification and job completion.
• Demonstrate excitement in working with children and professionalism in all interactions.
• Enthusiasm for working in an inclusive environment serving children of all backgrounds and abilities.
• Experience working with groups of elementary‑age children and strong behavior management (MUST).
• At least 18 years of age.
• Legally able to work in the United States (documentation required for I‑9).
• Spanish speaking skills are a plus.
• All employees must submit a criminal background check.
