Temporary SUN Activity Leader

Term:
Summer (part‑time, temporary)
Hours:
Mon–Thurs, 2:00–5:00 pm
Compensation: $18 per hour
Key ResponsibilitiesUnder the general supervision of the SUN Site Manager, the Activity Leader will:
- Design, plan, and teach after school activities for approximately 15 elementary‑age students grouped by grade level.
- Develop and deliver engaging, age‑appropriate lessons that incorporate academics, recreation, arts, and STEM.
- Supervise groups of 12–16 students, maintaining appropriate decorum during meal time, recess, bathroom breaks, and classroom transitions.
- Record student attendance and provide daily updates to the SUN Site Manager.
- Maintain classroom and school rules to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
- Communicate progress and concerns to the SUN Site Manager and collaborate with school staff, families, and custodians.
- Work within school and agency policies, safeguarding student confidentiality.
- Experience teaching children and creating lesson plans.
- Demonstrated ability to work with elementary‑age students in a safe, enriching setting.
- Independent, self‑motivated, creative, and resourceful.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Team‑player capable of asking questions for clarification.
- Respectful, professional, and enthusiastic toward an inclusive environment that serves children of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Strong behavior‑management skills; experience with diverse elementary groups is a must.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States; documentation required for I‑9.
- Spanish speaking skills a plus; basic English proficiency required.
- All employees must pass a criminal background check.
