Position: Instructor - Mechatronics (Part-Time)

Job Summary and Responsibilities/Duties

Job Summary Provides quality instruction that will contribute to the learning experiences necessary for each student to meet the objectives of the course and to be successful in both their education and career development experiences. Essential Duties

Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate.

Provides student contact before or after class or through telephone or email exchanges or office hours where facilities and schedules permit.

Prepares, distributes, and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate; incorporates the latest classroom technology when available and appropriate into instructional activities.

Structures classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall program objectives; prepares clear objectives for students each course. Maintains and revises curriculum to maintain currency.

Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates sensitivity to diversity within the College community.

Maintains classroom, laboratory, and departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate.

Understands and abides by College policies and regulations and other policies, procedures and materials as required by the College, departments or divisions.

Convenes classes on time and as scheduled.

Maintains evaluation and grading records for assigned students; enters grades and provides all necessary documentation for in completes within established College timelines.

Ensures and emphasizes safe working and classroom conditions and practices.

May participate in professional development activities.

Maintains current licenses or certificates in areas of expertise.

May attend in-service sessions and division meetings.

May direct aides and work-study students as assigned.

Understands and uses the College's computer system.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Education:

Associate's degree Experience/Training:

Minimum (5) years of industry work experience in industrial maintenance, automation, machine design, manufacturing engineering or related field

Additional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement Desired Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
Teaching experience, preferably at the community college level
FANUC handling tool and 2D iRvision certification
Journeyman electrician's license
Rockwell Automation PLC programming experience
Experience teaching hybrid or online courses
Experience building and maintaining manufacturing industry equipment

Ability to organize and explain materials in ways appropriate to students with different abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences
Knowledge of and commitment to the role and purpose of community colleges
Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
Comfortable using remote learning technologies, such as Zoom, LMS, Teams, etc.

Working Conditions and Important Information

Working Conditions Work is typically performed in a normal office environment and classroom setting

Salary Placement Initial salary placement for Instructional Load Credit (ILC) Instructors will be based on applicable education and/or years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College, per the guidelines in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws. Initial salary placement for all other newly hired instructors will be at Level 1.
