Educational Assistant- Instructional​/Safety Supervision and Support Assistant

Hours and Salary: 4 hours/day, 182 days/year
Salary Range: $22.29 to $30.54 per hour

Provides educational supports through supervision and instruction of students under the direction of licensed staff. Assists the licensed teacher with planning and implementing instructional programs for students who are not in categorical programs (e.g., special education, ELL) and completes routine clerical tasks.

• Experience: Prior paid or volunteer experience working with school-age children.
• Education: Completed an associate’s degree or higher, at least two years of study at a higher education institution (72 quarter hours or more), or evidence of a rigorous standard of quality and knowledge in reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Certifications: Criminal Justice Fingerprint, First Aid/CPR card, and other required bonds or testing.
• Clearance for working with children.

• Perform record keeping and basic clerical functions such as scheduling and copying.
• Confer with teachers to provide feedback on student performance.
• Support students in developing positive interpersonal relationships.
• Promote student safety through district guidelines.
• Monitor classroom and playground activities for a safe learning environment.
• Recognize and handle emergencies, calling for help when necessary.
• Evaluate situations and direct appropriate staff if needed.
• Cross-train in various school functions and assist other personnel as required.
• Maintain classroom materials and student files.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance to ill or injured children.
• Participate in meetings, transportation supervision, and other assigned duties.
