Qualifications. State of Oregon Teaching License with English Language Arts K‑12 and a current First Aid Card. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
CompensationAnnual salary range for 2026‑2027: $52,347 – $108,785 (192/193 day contract). Salary prorated based on FTE and start/end dates. Licensed employees are eligible for a $2,000 specialty stipend if certified Multilingual in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, American Sign Language, or Russian and pass a standardized proficiency test of that language.
Job SummaryThe teacher‑middle school role is to develop students’ academic skills through the district‑approved curriculum, document teaching and student progress, address specific educational needs, provide a safe learning environment, and communicate student progress, expectations, and goals to parents and administration.
Essential Job Functions- Help each pupil develop competence in subject matter skills; motivate each pupil to apply understanding and skills in solving problems; develop good relationships with parents and staff.
- Teach courses to secondary pupils using the board‑approved curriculum and guidelines.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements common to all teachers, as specified in state law and district regulations.
- Develop lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids.
- Demonstrate concepts using models, chalkboard, overhead projector, and other instructional aids.
- Provide opportunities for individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Design learning activities that relate the subject area to the physical world.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior for a productive classroom environment.
- Evaluate each pupil’s progress and prepare progress reports; may prepare letters of recommendation for scholarships and college applications.
- Perform basic attendance accounting and business services as required.
- Plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, or paraprofessionals.
- Communicate with parents and counselors about pupil progress.
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professionals to address health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Supervise pupils in out‑of‑classroom activities during the working day.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in district‑provided in‑service education or self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Department may add, delete or change duties at management discretion.
- Prompt and regular attendance is required.
- Assist other personnel as required to support their work activities.
- Participate in meetings such as parent conferences, in‑service training, site meetings to receive or provide information.
- Select and requisition books, instructional aids, supplies, and maintain required inventory records.
- Participate in curriculum and developmental programs at school or district level; may teach under modular or flexible scheduling plans.
- Share in sponsorship of student activities and participate in faculty committees.

- Motivational skills for students, communication with diverse backgrounds, support personnel, and performance evaluation.
- Knowledge of age‑appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, and instructional subjects.
- Abilities to stand, walk for prolonged periods, perform specialized tasks, maintain records, establish cooperative relationships with students, parents, and other personnel, meet schedules and deadlines.
- Education Required

- Licenses, Bonding, and Testing Required
- Teaching credential for appropriate level of instruction and subjects.
- Highly Qualified status.
- Criminal justice fingerprint clearance.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid certificates.
