Qualifications

State of Oregon Teaching License with English Language Arts K-12 and current First Aid Card.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Compensation

Annual Salary Range: $52,347 – $108,785 for 2026‑2027 (192/193 Day Contract). Salary schedule based on education and contracted licensed experience. Specialty stipend of $2,000 for licensed employees who are certified multilingual in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, American Sign Language, or Russian. Must pass a standardized proficiency test of language.

Job Summary

The job of a middle‑school teacher is to develop students’ academic skills through curriculum implementation, document instruction and progress, address specific educational needs, provide a safe learning environment, and give feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding progress.

Essential Functions
  • Help each pupil develop competence in subject matter skills; motivate pupils to apply understanding and skills in problem solving; develop good relationships with parents and other staff.
  • Teach courses to secondary pupils using curriculum and district guidance.
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the curriculum, as required by state law.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional aids.
  • Demonstrate concepts using models, chalkboard, overhead projector, and teacher‑prepared aids.
  • Provide individualized and small‑group instruction when needed.
  • Design learning activities that relate the subject area to the physical world.
  • Establish and maintain classroom behavior standards.
  • Evaluate pupils’ progress, prepare progress reports, and write letters of recommendation for scholarships, college applications, etc.
  • Perform attendance accounting and business services as required.
  • Plan and coordinate work of aides, teacher assistants, or paraprofessionals.
  • Communicate with parents and counselors to discuss individual progress.
  • Identify pupils’ needs and collaborate with professionals to solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Supervise pupils in out‑of‑classroom activities during assigned working day.
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in in‑service education and self‑selected growth activities.
  • Perform duties as assigned by management; attend required meetings, parent conferences, etc.
  • Prompt and regular attendance.
Other Functions
  • Assist other personnel as required.
  • Participate in meetings and credential requirements.
  • Select and requisition instructional supplies and maintain inventory records.
  • Participate in curriculum development, may teach under modular or flexible scheduling.
  • Participate in student activity sponsorship and faculty committees.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Prior job‑related experience.
  • Skills:

    motivate students, communicate with diverse backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate performance.
  • Knowledge: age‑appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects.
  • Abilities: stand and walk prolonged periods, perform specialized tasks, maintain records, collaborate with staff; physical: lifting/carrying/reaching, hearing, visual acuity.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Teaching Credential for appropriate level.
  • Highly Qualified Status for assignment.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
