Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist assesses students’ fine‑motor, sensory, and functional skills, identifies educationally relevant accommodations, develops and implements therapeutic interventions, and provides information for program design and student placement to improve performance and support instructional personnel.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assess students' fine motor and sensory skills and development for determining deficits and developing recommendations.
  • Consult with teachers, parents, other personnel, and outside professionals to provide information, develop plans for services, and make recommendations.
  • Participate in meetings such as IEP conferences, parent meetings, in‑services for developing plans and providing information regarding students' functional goals.
  • Implement therapy programs for remediation of functional limitations.
  • Prepare documentation (evaluations, observations, progress reports, contacts with parents, teachers, and outside professionals) to provide written support, develop recommendations, and convey information.
  • Present information on occupational therapy topics to communicate information and gather feedback on treatment issues.
  • Research resources and methods (intervention techniques, assessment tools, community resources) to determine appropriate approaches for addressing students’ functional goals.
  • Screen students for determining need for further individualized assessment.
  • Obtain needed equipment and modify or create equipment to improve student performance.
  • Schedule occupational therapy services and consultation, track service time provided to students.
  • Direct certified occupational therapy assistants regarding service provision and work schedule.
Other Job Functions
  • Assist other personnel as required to support completion of work activities.
  • Document student progress and report such to instructional staff and parents.
  • Maintain and submit reports to supervisor related to occupational therapy.
  • Attend workshops, staff development classes, meetings, seminars, and other meetings for continued professional growth as requested or approved by the director.
Qualifications

Licensure and

Certifications:

  • Occupational Therapy license issued by the State of Oregon and the Occupational Therapy Licensing Board.
  • First Aid Card.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle available.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Apply assessment techniques and treatment modalities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community partners.
  • Lift students according to acceptable risk factor guidelines.
  • Sit for prolonged periods and complete a case study and develop an individual education plan.
  • Work independently and flexibly under time constraints.
  • Strong physical abilities including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, keypad work, and visual acuity.

Experience Preferred:

Prior job related experience.

Compensation

Annual salary range $53,165 – $110,484 (195/196 day contract). Initial placement based on education and licensed experience. Eligible to receive a specialty stipend of $3,023 for the 2026–2027 school year or $2,000 for multilingual certification in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, American Sign Language, or Russian (requires standardized proficiency test).

Performance and Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated each year in accordance with the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Licensed Staff. Reports to the Program Director, Special Services.
