Overview
The Medical Assistant works as part of a care delivery team in Multnomah County health clinics, supporting physicians and other providers to deliver high‑quality patient care focused on disease prevention and health promotion.
Responsibilities- Provide patient follow‑up, including post‑visit instructions, scheduling appointments, patient education, communication of normal lab results, and reminder phone calls.
- Assist with clinic flow and time management for providers.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Review, forecast, and administer immunizations for patients of all ages.
- Perform medical treatments such as simple wound care, ear irrigations, suture removal, and fluoride treatments.
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and ready for use.
- Provide backup laboratory duties, including phlebotomy and lab processing.
- Complete assigned quality control and assurance activities.
- Provide backup duties to the preventative Medical Assistant.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- Certification through a nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification program (e.g., AAMA, AMT, NCCT, CCMA); if not certified, a diploma from an accredited program will be accepted and certification is required after hire.
- Active CPR certification.
- Acceptance of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, may be required.
