Labcorp is seeking a Sr. Technologist at Mount Hood Hospital in Gresham, OR

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday with rotating weekends, eve shift 1:00PM-9:30PM

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior member of the laboratory team with a primary focus on quality systems, regulatory compliance, quality assurance activities, and continuous process improvement while supporting daily laboratory operations and other technical staff.
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to laboratory staff, providing guidance and support on complex testing and troubleshooting activities.
  • Support laboratory quality initiatives, including quality assurance, quality control review, proficiency testing, corrective action investigations, and continuous process improvement efforts.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and company quality standards.
  • Review quality indicators and participate in identifying opportunities to improve laboratory processes, testing accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Assist with validations, competency assessments, and implementation of new procedures as assigned.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • 4 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • Insert any specific state license if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience in Blood Bank.
  • 1 year or more of Experience supporting laboratory quality assurance, quality control, regulatory compliance, inspections, audits, or process improvement initiatives.
  • 1 year or more of experience serving as a technical lead, senior technologist, or subject matter expert within a clinical laboratory.

Additional Job Standards

  • Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
